Hauwa is a leading advocate for sexual violence awareness and mental health. She is notably the first Nigerian woman to receive the prestigious Queen’s Young Leader Award for her impactful work. Through her foundation, she provides support to sexual abuse victims and individuals in West Africa who need mental health care.
In February 2020, Hauwa made history by defending the rights of people with mental health conditions and psychosocial disabilities before the Nigerian parliament, during the countrys effort to pass its first mental health law. Her pioneering efforts and dedication to mental health advocacy continue to make significant strides in her community and beyond.
Hassanna Maina is the founder of ASVIOL, an organisation dedicated to promoting conversations around sexual violence, particularly in areas where such discussions are often considered sensitive or restricted by society. Leading a dynamic team of young men and women in Maiduguri, she works to foster sexual awareness in both conventional and Islamic schools, aiming to combat sexual violence.
In addition to her role at ASVIOL, Hassanna is a lawyer, poet, and passionate anti-sexual violence advocate. She is also a pioneering member of the ArewaMe Too Campaign, which focuses on eradicating sexual violence in Northern Nigeria.
Rahama Sadau is a prominent actress, filmmaker, and singer, often hailed as the “face of Kanny-wood,” the Northern Nigerian film industry. As the first and only actress to successfully bridge the gap between Kannywood, Nollywood, and Bolly-wood, she has established herself as a versatile and influential figure.
She gained widespread recognition after winning Best African Actress at the 19th African Film Awards in 2015, organised by African Voice. In 2017, she founded her production company, Sadau Pictures, and produced her first movie, Rariya. Her captivating performance as Binta Bula in the 2023 Netflix series ‘WAR: Wrath and Revenge, further solidified her place in the industry.
Beyond her achievements in entertainment, Ra-hama is deeply committed to empowering women and girls. She is the founder of the Ray of Hope Foundation, an NGO dedicated to promoting gender equality and ending gender-based violence.

Hauwa Abbas Hadeija is the founder of the Silver Lining for the Needy Initiative (SLNI), a non-profit organisation committed to improving the lives of Nigerians living in poverty. Through SLNI, Hauwa has positively impacted over half a million people by providing vital support to mothers and babies and ensuring that thousands of children have access to education through school fee payments and the provision of uniforms.
In addition to her work with SLNI, Hauwa rec-ognised the unique challenges faced by women living with HIV and, in 2012, founded Pearl Acts, a support group offering these women a safe space and community. Her humanitarian approach is distinguished by a combination of the global perspective and a deep understanding of local needs, enabling her to design and implement programmes that create meaningful change in communities.
Beyond her philanthropic efforts in Nigeria, Hauwa extends her influence internationally as a certified coach with the International Coaching Federation (ICF). She uses her coaching skills to guide clients in navigating their goals, values, and fears, helping them achieve greater mental well-being.
