Adekunle Almoruf Kosoko, known professionally as Adekunle Gold, or AG Baby, is an Afrobeats singer, songwriter and graphic designer known for his unique music style that blends elements of highlife, Afrobeats and urban pop. He is currently signed to Def Jam Recordings and married to singer and songwriter, Simi.
Adekunle Gold’s music style is characterised by a fusion of traditional Nigerian sounds with modern production techniques, creating a fresh and distinctive sound that appeals to a wide audience.
His journey into music began in 2010 after developing an interest while listening to songs by King Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey. He became a member of his church’s junior choir and later released “Sade,” a cover of One Direction’s Story of My Life. The song received a major acclaim and was nominated for Best Alternative Song at the 2015 edition of the Headies.
After the release of “Sade,” Adekunle released his first official single entitled “Orente,” under YBNL. Following his departure from YBNL after his contract ended, Adekunle Gold unveiled his 8-man band called the 79th Element. He was later named brand ambassador for Unity Bank.
