Marcellina Akpojotor’s first solo exhibition in the UK, entitled Joy of More Worlds, will open with a reception on April 11, at Rele London.

Building upon investigations of her maternal bloodline, this new body of work traces a timeline of family life that connects and captures the spirit of contemporary African women.

Marcellina Akpojotoris is famed for presenting powerful images that capture the unyielding strength, complexities, and seemingly effortless style of her subjects while also referencing the long, arduous journey to female empowerment and gender equality, especially in contemporary African societies.
