The list recognizes trailblazers who are driving innovation, creating viral trends, and elevating African music and culture. The selected creatives are divided into three categories: Creators, Small-Owned Businesses, and Industry Disruptors.
In the Creators category, Iremide is spotlighted for captivating audiences with dynamic content. He joins other distinguished figures like Elsa Majimbo from Kenya and Chad Jones from South Africa.
Blaqboi Victor is featured in the Small-Owned Businesses category, alongside Kenya’s Dreadlocks Nairobi Kenya Salon and South Africa’s Kayla Kim Meiring.
Burna Boy and Hilda Baci are recognized in the Industry Disruptors category for their transformative impact on the entertainment industry. They are joined by Siphelele Sibiya from South Africa and Uncle Waffles from Swaziland.
TikTok’s Visionary Voices Africa List aims to honor those reimagining African culture and using the platform to educate, entertain, and advocate for the community. The celebration kicks off with an in-app #VisionaryVoicesAfrica hub, featuring a curated music playlist that showcases the vibrant sounds of the African diaspora.
