The Nigerian Official Selection Committee for the 97th Academy Awards has expanded, welcoming new voting members including actress Ijeoma Grace Agu, Nigerian Film Corporation Managing Director Ali Nuhu, producer/director Blessing Egbe, Filmhouse Cinemas Co-Founder/CEO Kene Okwuosa, and journalist/author/film critic Victor Akande. Now comprising 16 members, the committee will select Nigeria’s entry for the International Feature Film category.

Under the leadership of actress/filmmaker Stephanie Linus, the committee features returning members such as Victor Okhai, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Andy Amenechi, Yibo Koko, Izu Ojukwu, Emem Isong, Dimeji Ajibola, Jude Idada, John Njamah, and Meg Otanwa.

“The inclusion of new members brings together diverse creative backgrounds, enhancing our selection process,” said Stephanie. The committee will review, screen, and vote on entries to represent Nigeria. The 97th Oscars will air live on March 2, 2025, from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
